Where 6 Log Started: Infection Prevention
6 Log Solutions was not a janitorial company that added healthcare later. We began as consultants to healthcare professionals, advising on best practices for reducing pathogens such as C. diff and Norovirus through protocols, chemicals and specialized textiles.
The name comes from that work. "6 Log" refers to a 6-log reduction, the term used for chemicals capable of a 6-log sporicidal kill and textiles designed for a 6-log microbial reduction. Our post on what 6-log reduction means explains the term.
We have over 12 years of experience working alongside infection preventionists and environmental services teams. That background shapes how we staff and clean healthcare spaces.
What Healthcare Facilities Need From a Cleaning Partner
Healthcare cleaning carries higher stakes than most commercial work. A partner has to fit into clinical workflows, follow facility policy and keep pace with the schedule. In practice that means:
- Staff who understand how operating rooms, patient areas and support spaces differ.
- A repeatable process for between-case turnover, not a different approach each shift.
- A way to check results beyond how a surface looks.
- Coverage that holds up when your own EVS team is short.
- Coordination with nursing, anesthesia, perioperative leadership and EVS.
Operating Room Deep Cleaning and Disinfection
Operating room deep cleaning covers areas beyond routine daily cleaning. It suits terminal cleans, scheduled deep cleaning programs and getting an OR ready after a project. The work uses low-dust, top-to-bottom methods and focuses on high-touch, high-risk and hard-to-reach areas, with service documentation for your infection prevention review.
OR services are delivered in alignment with AORN guidelines, CDC infection prevention guidance, OSHA standards, and facility policies.
OR Turnover Support Program
The OR Turnover Support Program places dedicated, OR-trained staff on in-between case cleaning. Staff follow a repeatable turnover workflow, clean and disinfect high-touch and high-risk surfaces between cases, and coordinate with anesthesia, nursing and EVS teams. The goal is a more consistent turnover so clinical teams can stay focused on patients.
An optional enhancement adds targeted UV disinfection on high-touch surfaces where your facility approves it. UV is a supplement to manual cleaning, never a replacement.
A pilot program is available, so you can see the program in your own ORs before a longer commitment. Our post on what an OR turnover program includes walks through it, and terminal cleaning vs. OR turnover cleaning explains the difference between the two.
ATP Cleaning Verification
A surface can look clean and still carry organic residue. ATP cleaning verification uses rapid testing to measure organic material on surfaces, so you can see where cleaning is working and where it is not.
The process starts with baseline testing on high-touch and high-risk surfaces, follows with corrective cleaning on areas that do not pass, re-tests those surfaces and documents the results. Choose a one-time reset, such as before an inspection, or scheduled verification on a weekly, monthly or quarterly basis. See how ATP verification works for inspection prep.
EVS Staffing for Healthcare
When your environmental services team is short, 6 Log can help in two ways.
- Lease-to-hire: specialized staff without the HR burden, with the option to transition them to full-time. You evaluate people on the job before committing and pay only for hours worked. More on lease-to-hire
- Permanent Management Team: a dedicated team that 6 Log directly manages for your daily cleaning and infection prevention needs. More on the management team
The process is the same either way: your HR managers define the role and duration, 6 Log recruits, screens, interviews and presents qualified candidates, and you make the final selection. See How It Works.
Questions to Bring to the First Call
A first conversation goes faster when you can share:
- Which areas you need help with: ORs, patient areas, support spaces or non-clinical areas.
- Whether you need a deep clean, ongoing turnover support, verification, staffing or a mix.
- How many ORs or units are involved and which shifts need coverage.
- Any facility policies, approved products or workflows the team must follow.
- Whether you want to start with a pilot of the turnover program.
If you are not sure where to start, tell us the problem you are trying to solve and we will suggest a starting point.
Other Services for Healthcare Buildings
Hospitals and clinics also have offices, lobbies, kitchens and parking structures. 6 Log covers those spaces too, including nightly janitorial, day porters, commercial kitchen deep cleaning, post-construction cleaning after renovations, and parking structure pressure washing.
